DHM donates 11,078 worth of meals to local food bank as part of campaign to help feed kids during summer break
Manteca, Calif. – Doctors Hospital of Manteca (DHM) is pleased to announce that it donated an estimated equivalent of 11,078 meals to Second Harvest of the Greater Valley as part of Tenet Health’s Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive, this summer.
The donations collected are to provide local children and adults with a healthy breakfast during the summer, which is a particularly tough time for many food-insecure families because children can no longer rely on schools for nutritious meals, which can be an added burden on those families.
Doctors Hospital of Manteca collected 94 pounds of cereals and peanut butter, of which Second Harvest estimates will translate into 78 meals, and DHM staff and contractors also added $1,110 in monetary donations, which Second Harvest estimates will create 11,000 meals. Those donations total a combined equivalent of 11,078 meals that Second Harvest can use to provide meals for local children and adults with a healthy breakfast during the summer.
