About John deGraft-Johnson
FCPP welcomes Dr. John deGraft-Johnson to it's expanding network of healthcare providers. He is trained and experienced in innovative thorascopic techniques that are less invasive than standard surgical procedures. He was one of the first surgeons in Northern California to perform a thorascopic esophagectomy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) biopsy of mediastinal lymph nodes. He is one of the only surgeons in the Central Valley and Fresno area to provide VATs Lobectomy and minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery.
"Many patients needing major surgery often request to be transferred out of the area, to UCSF or Stanford, because they think we do not have the technical expertise here in the Central Valley. But some of the techniques we're doing right here in Modesto rival what's being done at the greatest medical centers in the country," he said. When less invasive surgical procedures are performed, patients benefit from less trauma to the body, which allows them to heal faster and greatly reduces the risk of infection. Along with FCPP, Dr. deGraft-Johnson is committed to bringing world-class health care to our community.

There are very few Cardiothoracic surgeons listed under our Medicare Advantage plan- Dr deGraft-Johnson and Dr Talieh. We were very happy that Stanislaus Cardiology referred us to Dr deGraft-Johnson after seeing him on the news discussing the daVinci robot because he came across as a person who could explain things without getting overly technical. We were very happy to see that in-person he was the same. His staff were all helpful and even dealing with computer problems didn't let it slow them down too much.

Doctor deGraft-Johnson may look like a football linebacker; but he is a well spoken and understanding individual. He chose not to use technical terms that only a medical professional would understand, but selected terminology more easily comprehended by us. He explained clearly how the TAVR procedure is handled by the surgical team and explained using a fitting example how moving forward now with the procedure was a better solution long term than waiting for one of the more recognizable symptoms.
