Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
While most deliveries result in a healthy baby, complications can sometimes arise. Whether you choose to deliver at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock or Doctors Medical Center of Modesto, know that there’s an on-site NICU ready to provide advanced care for your baby, if needed. Because our NICUs are located on-site, your baby will not need to be transferred to another hospital for extra care.
When Might a Baby Be Admitted to a NICU?
Most babies who need NICU care are admitted quickly after birth. A physician may order this because a baby is simply born prematurely or because it shows signs of complications soon after birth.
Our highly skilled NICU staff also includes a compassionate team of respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, ultrasonographers, dieticians and social workers. If your newborn requires intensive care, our board-certified neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners are available 24/7.
If your obstetrician or maternal fetal medicine provider has concerns about your baby’s health before birth or during labor and delivery, on-site pediatric physicians are available to attend and monitor potentially complicated births.
Providing Level III NICU Care in Modesto
Doctors Medical Center of Modesto provides one of the highest levels of care for babies born prematurely or with health issues through our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). These babies may have been born prematurely, experienced a difficult delivery, or shown signs of a complication shortly after birth.
